  • Janneau Armagnac. A sharp, flavourful introduction to Armagnac as a cheaper alternative to Cognac.
  • Conclave. A film about a papal election shouldn’t be quite so grippingly entertaining, should it?
  • Oldley water bottles. The right combination of durable, affordable, easily-carryable and leakproof for kids who are adept at smashing bottles and coming home with soaked bags.
  • The A Tale of Magic series by Chris Colfer. My 10-year-old couldn’t wait for me to finish reading them to her, and devoured them all after bedtime on the sly…
  • Diplomatico Reserva sipping rum. Not quite as good as my favourite, Zacapa Centenario 23, but this Venezuelan rum has excellent winter warmer qualities.
